ASIF
2003 FAQ
ASIFA
Israel answers some frequently asked questions about
ASIF 2003 and the Tel-Aviv Comics Cartoon and Animation
Festival
What
is ASIF?
ASIF is an annual celebration of Israeli animation.
It is a festive screening of the best Israeli animated
films made by studios, independent animators and students.
The first ASIF was ASIF 2000, which was held on January
2001.
ASIF is organized and produced by ASIFA Israel.
This year, ASIF will screen on August
19, at the Tel-Aviv Cinematheque.
What is the
Tel Aviv Comics Cartoon and Animation Festival?
The Comics Cartoon and Animation Festival is
a 3-day event during which visitors can attend screenings,
workshops, lectures and other exciting activities.
The first CoCarAn Festival took place on July 2001.
The festival is organized and produced by the Israeli
caricaturists association.
This year, the festival is held on August
18-20, at the Tel-Aviv
Cinematheque.
What's
different this year?
This year, for the first time, ASIF and the CoCarAn
Festival unite!
ASIF is now a major part of the festival.
It is expected to be bigger, more festive and generally
better than in previous years.
Also, this year there will be 3 screenings: the first
will be closed to the general public. Only those who
submitted films to the show will be invited.
The remaining 2 screenings will be open to the general
public.
How
can I submit a film?
Just fill in and send the registration form!
If you are an animation studio, an independent animator
or an animation student, and you have created a short
film that you wish to screen at ASIF 2003, please download
the following
form, read the instructions carefully and send to
the specified address. Note that not all films will
be accepted: a committee will select only those films
of the highest quality.
Deadline for film submission is July
15, 2003.
How
much does it cost?
Starting this year, submitting a film costs money!
In order to raise enough money for the event (which
is not funded in any way), participants are required
to pay a small fee to have their film on display.
Anyone who sends a film has to pay the fee, regardless
of weather he or she is accepted or rejected by the
committee. However, those who pay the fee will, in any
case, receive two tickets for the show (valued at 50
NIS each).
The registration fee is 200
NIS for studios, 100 NIS
for independent animators and 50
NIS for students or ASIFA Israel members.
